Another season of capturing the Clippers came to an end a few weeks back. Although the season ended earlier than everyone would have liked, it was still a very successful season. The team suffered some major injuries early on in the season. But the guys stepped up and still competed until the very end of the season.
It was definitely my favorite season to shoot so far. Being the Digital Team Photographer I focused a lot more on the players and the game. I was able to make some of my best photos and always looked for new ways to capture the game. The team made my job easier, always giving me some great moments to shoot. Whatever happens this summer, I am sure going to miss this group of players. Thanks for all the support this season, can't wait till next season and capture even better photos.
Take a look at some of my favorites from this past season...
The player arrival photos ended up being my favorite to make. I tried some at the end of the 16-17 season, but really tried to take them to the next level this season. I wanted them to look different than most of the other NBA arrival photos. At the beginning of the year, they weren't anything special, but a few months into the season I found my style. I started using off camera flashes to make the lighting more dramatic. I usually had one in front as the main light and a second light as a side or rim light. I had to really plan out these shots as the players could walk anywhere. I really like this look and have even more ideas to improve next season.
I was able to be the most creative during pregame. During the pregame shootarounds, I have plenty of time to make images. I tried to always shoot different angles than the previous game. Some of the best were when I found something to put in front of the lens to give some type of flares in the frame. Here are some of the best of pregame.
Everyone loves dunks and there were plenty of dunks for the Clippers this year. They are pretty tricky to capture, you never know when one is coming and always hope they dunk towards you. Trezz always threw some down and got to give some credit to DJ and Blake, even Lou got some posters this season. But the top dunk was for sure Sindarius dunk against the Pelicans.
The most memorable photos have to be the ones with emotion. And there was plenty of emotion this season. There were so many close games this year and the players gave everything they had. Pat Bev always gave me some great shots, sad his season was cut short, but hopefully he comes back stronger. Take a look at some of the best reaction shots.
There were some great moments this season. I had a hard time narrowing my favorites down to a reasonable number. Here are all the rest of my favorite photos of the action.
