I have been working for CBU Athletics every year of my undergraduate career. After four years of working, I shot over 350 games and took around 300,000 photographs. Each one of those games I learned something new and became a better photographer. The other day I went through all the photos to find the best images. There are some photos from freshman year I hope nobody ever sees. By the way if you haven't seen the video yet check it out here- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nqfayM2BoSY
I wanted to create one last project. I had this idea a few months ago, but it took sometime to get everything organized and make it happen. The idea was simple to combine the athletes with the campus. I asked one senior from some of the teams and went around the campus making action portraits of each athlete. After the shoot, I asked each senior what playing for CBU meant to them. This is the Lancer Legacy...
"Soccer is a common ground that brought us together. Through our shared experiences we began to know each other better off the field which only strengthened our brotherhood on the field."
"It meant being a part of a family and honoring Christ. God blessed me with four years of playing the sport I love. I'll take away the friendships, I've made some amazing friends who have helped me grow as a person."
"Running for CBU meant a lot to me. It is a privilege to be part of a such a great program. Being able to represent and wear the gold jersey is something I will forever remember. Memories were made at practice and competition. I will be able to look at all the sacrifices made these past 3 years and realise that it was worth it."
"CBU has truly become my home away from home, and I have learned that family members do not always have to be blood-related. Over the past four years, I have made countless relationships that have allowed me to grow into the individual, student, athlete, and Daughter of Christ that I am today. As I graduate and embark on new endeavors, I will take the memories, lessons-learned, and relationships from CBU with me wherever I go. I am forever grateful for the experiences I have had on and off the volleyball court at California Baptist University, as they have truly shaped me as a person and allowed for me to have a great college experience."
"To me it meant that I was able to focus on athletics while being at a university that helped me grow in my relationship with God. The feeling of competing against some of the top teams in the nation with a crowd of Lancers packing out the Van Dyne."
"Playing softball here at CBU has taught me a lot about hard work, commitment, and time management. I am very thankful to of had the opportunity to be a student-athlete here."
"I truly enjoyed the opportunity to play for such an amazing university. Playing for CBU is a great honor for any athlete. You get to represent God and the entire school on the field, knowing that you have the greatest support system an athlete could ask for."
"Playing for CBU means you've put in the work to be a high-level athlete on the court, a dedicated student in the classroom and above all, you aim to glorify God in all you do."
"Playing for CBU has been nothing less than a blessing. Attending this school helped me grow as a player, student, and man. I am extremely grateful for all the opportunities that the school and the coaching staff has given me and blessed to have attended such an amazing school."
